Go Team Memedroids!

January 20, 2008 11:30 PM

Randy tagged me in this entry to do a meme, the rules of which state that I must list seven famous people I have met. I've spent this past year hanging out in a church, the three years prior to that hanging out at Wal*mart, and the previous eighteen years hanging out in my room. I don't meet famous people.

That being said, how about we join forces on this one? I won't tag anybody to do this (godforsaken) meme, and you'll comment on this entry with the name of at least one famous person you've met. Kapeesh?

Edited to add: Whilst I was looking up "kapeesh" on Google to see if I was the only crazy person to use that particular spelling, I stumbled across wwujd.com, clearly the best site ever. What would Uncle Jesse do? I bet he would help me finish this meme.

Now that I think about it, I've met Chris Tomlin like ten times. Does anybody outside of Christian circles actually know who he is, though?

I've met Reese Roper and even got to watch Five Iron Frenzy from backstage at Cornerstone, which was pretty rad. Meeting people like that's not particularly difficult (esp. at Cornerstone) and I guess falls in the "Christian circle" thing, but the backstage bit was cool and thanks to a friend hooking us up.

I've met Ray Boltz and his wife, who are super nice. They've been involved with Teen Mania a lot and I was too at the time. They're from Indiana and their son Phil went on a mission trip with a friend of mine, ergo... the whole fun six degrees game.

I've met the son of the almost president of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta. Jomo was the grandson of the first president of Kenya, a late Mr. Jomo Kenyatta. Coincidence in name?...maybe.

I've met a few celebrities, back in the days when I worked for hotels. Of all the ones I met, I think Paula Poundstone was the nicest and the late Mickey Mantle was the rudest.

I met Prince Charles when I was a wee nipper. Apparently I went home and told my mum that he had very big ears and a rather large nose. Thank God I didn't say the same to him.

I once met the then-current Prime Minister of Canada. A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Things like that happen to Canadians when they are in Canada.

I've actually met a few "famous" people... Surprising, as I really don't care much for people, the darling little misanthrope that I am.

Let's see... Mr. T, Mayor Daley, Rick Bayless, Joan Embery, Steven Curtis Chapman (three times) among dozens of other Christian bands/musicians/artists... Hell, I'm related to Tony Danza! Does that count?

I officially have no idea who 90% of those famous people are, but that just further emphasizes why I needed y'all to help me with this meme. (Also, I now have even more reason to want to hang out with you and live vicariously through you. You meet famous people!!)

Maybe not so much famous (at least nobody interesting anyway) but I've got the mythical covered.

Frosty is cool. Santa's got style. The leprechauns are alright. I think the Tooth Fairy carries it a bit too far. I mean it's bad enough that he has the wings and the wand but the tutu and the tiara really need to go. The Easter Bunny... he's a nightmare. I hope you never have to meet him face to face.

Rachel, Thanks for playing even if it was in an unexpected way. Turned out kinda neat.
It even reminded me of someone else I met once, Andraé Crouch. What a wonderful voice. That was a long long time ago. Falls Creek at the old open air tabernacle, Andraé Crouch singing My Tribute…. That was something to experience. I had the opportunity to talk to him after the service. Walking across the softball field. Things were a little less structured back then….. Have a great day.
