My desk belonged to Mary Poppins in a previous life.

Things I found in the course of cleaning out my desk drawers:

  • Two staplers. Not sure why.
  • Four identical name tags from my days at Office Depot. I forgot them at home a lot.
  • Four Hershey's bar wrappers.
  • Two "fun-sized" candy bars of unknown origin. Presumably, they are part of my "emergency stash."
  • Enough Post-It notes to mark every container of deli meat in the country.
  • A receipt with the words "kikari takaramono" written on the back.
  • A piece of hardware somehow linked to a piece of IKEA furniture.
  • A ceramic bowl from my first year of college. Back before I started splurging on disposable bowls.
  • Make-up that I must have shoved in the back of my drawer in June when strangers were last in my bedroom.
  • Claritin that surprisingly doesn't expire until next year. I cannot remember the last time I bought Claritin.
  • A certification card from the American Red Cross saying that I had passed the first level of swimming lessons. In June of 1997.
  • Two leather daily planners. One Lord of the Rings-themed daily planner.
  • A kick-ass watch with Patrick Star on the front. Probably from a cereal box, where all the best watches are born.
  • A blueprint I copied from the local newspaper to use in The Sims.
  • A Hotwheels car.
  • Every item from Office Depot's catalogue.

Things I have in my desk drawer:

Who the hell knows. Last time I reached in, something bit my finger. I think it may be the product of the electromagnetic field put off by my computer stuff, coupled with the primordial concoction of miscellany that has found its way into my desk drawer.

I'll never be sure, though; I'm not brave enough to clean out that drawer.

Maybe it's a monkey! Or a gremlin. I'm hoping it's a monkey, though.

You inspired me to open my desk drawer. The top item was my 3-D glasses from going to see the rerelease of Nightmare Before Christmas.

I have closed the drawer, because if that is the top item, I am scared of What Lies Beneath.

When I open my desk drawer I see my TI-89 Titanium calculator which I envy because it gets more action and play on the weekends than I do! I also see a stapler, vitamin C, paper clips, and a small box full of pens that I collected at last Fall's career fair.

I refuse to mention what I found in my drawer on the grounds that I might incriminate myself (or worse, make myself out to be very dull.)

golfwidow - I'm kinda jealous of how awesome you are for having 3-D glasses in your desk drawer. I give you mad props for that.

Honeybuns - Yeah, I found my TI-83+ and my TI-89 in my drawer, too. Haven't used those suckers in a while...

Jace of Fuse! - Yay! You commented! But no fair, you totally need to join in on the fun of embarrassing yourself. All the cool kids are doin' it...

They say a picture is worth a thousand fnords and I suppose either that's true or it's not, though it might be both. Either way, just because I do what the cool kids are doing doesn't mean I will suddenly be any less geeky. I suspect if I do in fact comply with your wishes I shall have painted myself several darker shades of dork.

My drawer.

That's some interesting stuff in your desk! *gasps* I would LOVE that Patrick Star watch. I'm a fan of Spongebob (it's so silly, in a good way) and Patrick is my favorite idiot :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog---it's good to know someone else suffers too ;) I call it a night owl schedule too! My friend commented after you, mentioning something about Horlicks, which supposedly calms you and is good for sleeping, but it's only in the UK. I MUST find something like that in the US! (I checked your information and found that you also live in the US, so no Horlicks for you either :( ) I know it's best to stay away from any screens before sleeping, but I end up staring my computer right up until early in the morning, when I'm finally sleepy -_-

Jace of Fuse! - Hahaha, that looks exactly like any desk drawer in my dad's study. That's so awesome. Please don't ever hold back on sharing something that geektastic again.

Kim - You'd think that in crazy, stressed-out America, we'd have something similar to Horlicks. I'll have to look into that, since it sounded like it could actually be a pretty neat alternative to sleeping pills. (And for the record, I've been sitting in front of a TV screen or my computer monitor since I woke up at around 11:30am. Even when I work out, I'm watching television.)

I found it quite disturbing when I found and untouched package of coconut clusters that I bought from one of my high school fundraisers. I stress "MY" high school fundraiser, and it has been a good four years since I have been out of high school, and my junior year was my last fundraising type of even thing...

Surprisingly no bugs were to be found, the coconut clusters were irresistibly perfect and I am ashamed to admit that I had the urge to eat one *mmm* NO I threw them away, haha.
