Internet Déjà Vu

When Twitter put the image of a little bird on a swirly branch up on their website a short while back, I was sure I had seen it somewhere before. And then I saw the exact same image up on the site of one of my new NaBloPoMo friends. It finally hit me where I had first seen the image.

That Gosh Dang Bird

There it is on the personal website of Emily, who I've been following since her days on Diaryland. She's an amazingly talented web designer, and I always love staring at her blog and wishing mine could look half as good.

Now check it out on the gorgeous website of my new pal, Jamie.

And in case you don't use Twitter, here it is on the front page.

Weird? I thought so. Maybe it's some sort of award that a website is given for being so extremely awesome. Perhaps it's a secret blogger cult that I haven't been invited to join. Or . . . I spend too much time online.

I'm reading this and was like..hey that kind of looks like my site! Then realized it is a screenshot of my site. Yeah, I'm quick!

My design is a free theme I got from Randa Clay (link at the bottom of my blog). I love it but I really want to get my own design. Too bad most web designers want like $500 for a blog design :(

Jamie - I actually really like the design you've got going. It's quite lovely (especially for a FREE theme). I was just surprised to see how popular that cute little birdy has become!

I used to charge $25 - $55 per design when Cookie Designs was still active because, yeah, who has $500 to drop on a theme that they'll only use for like a year at the longest? I wish I had the time to invest in becoming better at the whole web design thing, but it's really on a back burner right now, sadly. :\

So! I found your site through Jamie's Lovely site (Jesus, I am so clever) and liked it and figured I would tag you to do the "7 Random Things About Me" meme.

Rules and details and stuff are back at my site. Yay NaBloPoMo! This survey is super useful when writers' block sets in.

I vote yes on the whole "spending too much time online" thing. But, you know, I do too, so I can't condemn.

Jamie: Don't feel bad. I saw the three of them and thought, "Huh. I didn't realize twitter had multiple home pages."

Most probably what you are seeing are images made from some vector clip art package.

Doing a quick search on Google I was able to find several similar bits of clip art but none that were a perfect match.

My bet is if you search some of the more popular vector clip art packages you will find that particular bird.

Big Time Fancy - Thanks for stopping by! Glad you liked my site enough to tag me. :)

Thursday's Child - Reading the text hopefully helped clear that up.

Fuse! - And Captain Obvious strikes again. (No worries. It's just that kind of week.) Yeah, I'm guessing it's either clip-art or a Photoshop brush. I too found some similar images on my own Google search before posting this entry. I just found it odd that three of the sites I frequent all use the same bird.

I has originally intended to trail my comment with "-Captain Obvious"

Fuse! - My comment should've been signed "Borderline Cranky Douchebag." I need to stay away from the internet until after I've had some quality sleep time.

Hey, just wanted to drop by and thank you for your kind note the other day. If I had a spare few hundred quid lying around I would totally take you up on the offer!

(And the pink one pleases me the most. Which may perhaps be because I am a big fat girl and love all things pink)

Zoe - And I'd totally fly you over here myself if I had the spare change. :\ Alas, being poor is my specialty.

I like the pink, too. :) Yay for being girly!

My (wannabe) store has the same design. It threw me off when I saw Jamie's, though, because mine's blue.
