The whiny part: I'm very much accustomed to being a student. In fact, I should be starting classes next week, but [a whole long story] happened. This means that I am stuck in the land of full-time employment, earning measly little paychecks that get sent off to the very nice people at Student Loans 'R' Us. Celebrating the holidays without the proper three-week vacation from school / life has been a little weird for me. I definitely was on the verge of quitting my job when I woke up today at 7am, cursing the early morning sun and its pale, cold light piercing through the blinds.

The not so whiny part: That said, I've decided to take a look at some things that made me happy today, in spite of the fact that my life isn't exactly where I'd like it to be right now.

  1. I woke up on time. This must have been a miracle, since I stayed up 'til the wee hours of the morning messing around with photophlow. (Which, by the way, is the best thing to happen to Flickr since AT&T gave Pro accounts to their internet customers.)
  2. I made it to work on time. This was also a miracle. I spent most of my morning trying to upload a picture to MySpace. I don't know how I could stomach that place at seven o'clock in the morning, or why I was so intent on changing my picture at the buttcrack of dawn. I'm not very coherent before noon.
  3. I did my job and managed to avoid having a pointless meeting with my boss. Somehow, I even had time to sit on my arse waiting for Nero to install and do it's DVD-burning thing for a full hour. No, I did not attempt to multi-task. Yes, I am extremely lazy.
  4. In my recently cleaned room, I discovered this kick-butt candle. It smells like peppermint. I have almost my recovered my sense of smell enough to vouch for this.

Taking Festive to New Levels

Even my Sims are having a good day. Rachel spent the entire afternoon making out with Frodo Baggins in the hot tub, and Bilbo seems to have fallen in love with a woman half his age. Surely, life is good.

Team Christmas - I'm sorry, darlin'. I'll stop whining now. Go Team Christmas!

P.S. I wasn't kidding when I said that it completely made my day/week/month/year to have you comment on my blog. I'm just that easy to please (read: shallow).

That candle looks like it smells amazing.

On the other hand, all I ever end up doing is burning little bits of paper whenever I have a candle burning near by.

Thursday's Child - I thought it would have an amazing scent, too. When I first got it, I was recovering from a cold, so my sense of smell was pretty much nonexistent. Later, however, I discovered that it just really doesn't have a scent. Which, hey, let's face it, SUCKS.

I too like to burn things in candles. With this one being as transparent as it is, however, I find myself digging things OUT of it instead of letting stray ashes from paper fall into it. You can see every piece of burnt wick sitting at the bottom of the candle or stuck in a gel bubble halfway down. It's rather disgusting, actually. Oh well. It's still a cool concept.
