The whiny part: I'm very much accustomed to being a student. In fact, I should be starting classes next week, but [a whole long story] happened. This means that I am stuck in the land of full-time employment, earning measly little paychecks that get sent off to the very nice people at Student Loans 'R' Us. Celebrating the holidays without the proper three-week vacation from school / life has been a little weird for me. I definitely was on the verge of quitting my job when I woke up today at 7am, cursing the early morning sun and its pale, cold light piercing through the blinds.

The not so whiny part: That said, I've decided to take a look at some things that made me happy today, in spite of the fact that my life isn't exactly where I'd like it to be right now.

  1. I woke up on time. This must have been a miracle, since I stayed up 'til the wee hours of the morning messing around with photophlow. (Which, by the way, is the best thing to happen to Flickr since AT&T gave Pro accounts to their internet customers.)
  2. I made it to work on time. This was also a miracle. I spent most of my morning trying to upload a picture to MySpace. I don't know how I could stomach that place at seven o'clock in the morning, or why I was so intent on changing my picture at the buttcrack of dawn. I'm not very coherent before noon.
  3. I did my job and managed to avoid having a pointless meeting with my boss. Somehow, I even had time to sit on my arse waiting for Nero to install and do it's DVD-burning thing for a full hour. No, I did not attempt to multi-task. Yes, I am extremely lazy.
  4. In my recently cleaned room, I discovered this kick-butt candle. It smells like peppermint. I have almost my recovered my sense of smell enough to vouch for this.

Even my Sims are having a good day. Rachel spent the entire afternoon making out with Frodo Baggins in the hot tub, and Bilbo seems to have fallen in love with a woman half his age. Surely, life is good.
