A Spoonful of Crazy Makes the Rumors Go 'Round

Because I feel the need to 1) follow up on yesterday's entry and 2) lighten the mood a bit, let me share some other fun details with you about the pregnancy scare I faked.

  • After crying and stammering my way through the whole story, I added, "Actually, we're not really sure if he's the father of if it's his roommate." At that point, I just wanted to see how many more horrified faces she could make.
  • The "potential fathers" and I decided to have an imaginary child to make the situation more entertaining.
  • Her name is Aurora, but we call her "Rory."
  • Rory will be three years old on April 12, 2008. She was born the same day she was conceived. Don't ask how that worked.
  • The one who we eventually determined to be her father is a ninja, so she is being raised to be equal parts ninja and pirate. Don't ask how that one works, either.
  • Because she spends most of her time with me, she's actually more pirate than ninja. Don't tell her father, though.

. . . Don't look at me like that. I just really want to name a daughter "Aurora," and this was looking like the only chance I'd ever get.

Aurora is a cool name, for sure. For whatever reason, Reagan really sticks out to me as being a cool girl's name.

I just want my daughter's name to be able to have a cute nickname. My name doesn't really rhyme with anything (except "America") and you can't add the "ie" sound to the end of it to make it cute. So far, Emeline is my favorite option. Emma, Emmy, Em, Emily, etc.

I just thought of a really good portmanteaux for yr nickname: skirtsational. As in that blog post was skirtsational, Rachel. Yr blog is totally skirtserrific. Okay, that one failed pretty miserably.
As to conception and birth on the same day,one word: wormhole.
Also, I love the imagery of a ninja pirate or actually of a pirate ninja. I'm now not sure which way you would write that to show which one is the dominant tendency. Still wicked image!

Hehe... I love it.
Aurora's a cool name. "I know you; I walked with you once upon a dream..."

I considered naming my computer (for network reasons) Aurora. But I settled on Astraea.

Oh mate, you crack me up. I am glad to hear that Rory is more pirate than ninja. Us pirates rule the seas! The ninja's tend to swing on the sails too much and get nauseous.

Rory is clearly short for Lorelai, not Aurora.

Confession time. In your comments, no less.

I once did the Lewinsky on a skinhead boy at a party, just so I could see the look of dismay on his face after I said, "Did you like that?" and then added, "By the way, I'm Jewish."
