Sober in Milwaukee: Jazz Fest

Christmas Lights in the Trees

Two truths and a lie: This is a picture of Christmas lights on trees. I was drunk when I took this picture. I was dancing when I took this picture.

Some of you may recall that I went to Chicago's annual jazz fest last year in August. (Pictures here. I apparently didn't think to blog about it.) It was exactly what I imagined heaven would be like. Blue skies, warm weather, a soft breeze, and great jazz music... all within walking distance of coffee and Chicago pizza and ice cream. Honestly, what more could a girl want?

I had an equally great time going to the Dave Brubeck concert at Ravinia a few months ago, so I was really excited to attend Milwaukee's jazz fest with my family on our first night in town. Now, because things in MIlwaukee were determined to be strange, the evening was full of some legitimately frustrating moments. But! None of that mattered because I got to listen to jazz under the stars, surrounded by happy people and my new best friends:

P.S. Sorry for the short clip. My camera died when this video ended. That's what I get for taking non-stop pictures on the boat tour.

My camera *almost* died today, too. I brought the charger for it but I dremelled the collar off of the first travel adapter I had, which apparently broke a fuse or something inside it. So I got here and plugged the travel adapter in, in anticipation of charging up all my stuff. Guess what? The travel adapter doesn't pass any current because a fuse or something in it is teh borken. So I go out and buy a new one which, for whatever stupid reason, also has a collar. This means I need to buy a UK iPod charger in order to charge my iPod and Treo because the North American travel chargers I have for them can't plug into an adapter that has a collar. Everything's fine for a few days (phone, iPod, and computer can all charge) but then my camera starts complaining about a low battery. But the charger has a North American-style plug and because it's a wall wart, it cannot plug into the new adapter. So I go to the first place I see that may have a charger for Canon cameras and come out of the store $70 lighter.

Doesn't quite resemble Christmas lights... and you were dancing because you were drunk. It makes sense. So the whole Christmas bit is a lie.

You lush.
